Actionable Intelligence - Our Approach
In terms of open-source social media monitoring, Global Situational Awareness exploits publicly available information, including posts, comments, images, ‘likes’ or shares etc., from any social network.
For open-source monitoring, information is not gained from actively engaging with other users, such as soliciting information via private conversations.
The company’s open-source research is underpinned by our horizon scanning intelligence enterprise system software, which indexes and data mines internet-based textual sources, media sites, blogs and social networks, on an automated basis to ensure as efficient and broad information gathering as possible.
These searches are not defined by geographical boundaries and can be conducted in many languages.
Our analysts are trained to use additional search methods, including the use of non-traditional search engines and accessing the ‘deep web’; non-text-based sources of information, such as identifying website metadata and extracting geo-location data, e.g. from images; and a variety of international social networks to ensure global unintrusive social media monitoring which does not leave a footprint.
